D-mannose is a naturally occurring simple sugar. It can be used to effectively control the levels of unwanted E. coli bacteria in the urinary system that are responsible for most UTIs including Cystitis.

A UTI or urinary tract infection is the name given to an infection of any part of the urinary system. The urinary system comprises of the kidneys, ureters, the bladder, and the urethra. An infection is usually bacterial and the commonest form of a UTI is a bladder infection which is also called Cystitis.

The symptoms of a UTI are varied, but often include:

pain or a burning sensation during urination

a desire to urinate frequently, but urination may be difficult or feel incomplete

urine may appear cloudy, bloody and may have an unpleasant odour

pain in the lower abdomen

a mild fever (a high temperature between 37-38°C or 98.6-101.0°F)

UTI's, including Cystitis, can affect anyone, although most often occurs in women. There are many approaches which can help avoid or prevent getting a UTI such as drinking plenty of water, practicing good hygiene and urinating when you feel the need. Antibiotics are the usual treatment for UTIs, but many suffers are turning to D-mannose to help promote and maintain a healthy urinary system.
